 My friend John and I love watching the "Press Your Luck" game show, especially the recent Elizabeth Banks version. So I made John a Whammy sculpture for Christmas. Acrylic and air dry clay on board. 

Family Portrait with Former Boss

 When I was a kid I worked as a cook at Golden West Steaks. Like all restaurant cooks, I was a super big jerk to my bosses Erv and Jerry. That's why I was surprised to hear from Erv 30 years later. He found my art and asked for a portrait of him and his family. I was happy to paint it for him and ask for his forgiveness for being a young punk. He replied that he could tell I was going to be successful, I just needed to grow up. It was good to see him. I was happy to make this for him and gain back a bit of karma.

 Last week my grandma celebrated her 100th birthday. To celebrate I painted her this little watercolor. 

New Zoo Book Part One

A few years ago I worked on a book with DePaul poetry professor Chris Green. Here is a statement from Mr. Green:

"About 8 years ago, Steve Hamann and I created NEW ZOO: IMAGINED BEASTS A-Z—I wrote the poems about hybrid animals, and Steve did the amazing drawings. We were never able to find a publisher, so I’m thinking it’s time we share the book one poem/letter a day. An abecedarium is both common and rare. For billions of years, drowsy parents, teachers, and children have read ABC books about the planet’s worn-out animals. We’re all aging fast, but all we know is that we’re all a little young. We need novel illustrations and doggerel written by immature poets. "

Simpsons Trivia Night

I have been playing a home made Simpsons trivia game with my good friends for several years. It is tremendous fun, and created by well known pop culture critic John Teti. I made him a painting of it for Christmas.
